On the 29th of february 2008, we were introduced to H.M. Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands when she opened the exhibition:

Amsterdam & The Oranjes

at the Amsterdamse Historisch Museum, in Amsterdam

This is how it went:

"Gentlemen, you must be the collectors, I recognised you from your photograph".

With these magical words H.M. Queen Beatrix, Queen of The Netherlands walked towards us and offered me and then Ron, her hand to shake!!

"Yes your Majesty, that's correct", we both answered.

"Absolutely beautiful" replied the Queen.

"Thank you very much Majesty", we both answered.

Standing behind her was the Lord Mayor of Amsterdam (technically my boss as a civil servant of the city of Amsterdam) he said:

"Fabulous, you must be very proud of your collection",

"Yes we are, thank you", I answered.

Following this, The Queen smiled at us gave a little wave and along with her Lady-in waiting and the lord Mayor left the exibition.

You can imagine that Ron and I were both in utter shock, couldn't speak for a few minutes, we were then surrounded by people who wanted to talk to us and even take our photograph.

In our photo album are just a few photo's to give you an impression of the exhibition. The photo of Her Majesty & her Lady- in-waiting was taken just before she walked over to us.

You can see a part of our collection, which is being shown at this exhibition. All displayed items are for sale when the exhibition ends on the 31st of august.

On the 1st of march 2008 the book "Oranje Boven een schatvol herinneringen" will be published. The book has 144 pages of photographs of memorabilia most of which features our now very large collection.

DenRon Collections, was conceived in 1996 when we decided to give our collections just a little more edge. Instead of wandering around flea markets buying in dribs and drabs we decided to just go for it and assemble together a collection with a purpose. What is that purpose? We are both great admirers of Her Majesty Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands, thus the reason why from that day in 1996 we pledged to collect as much of the memorabilia made for this fascinating monarch. Of course as the collection grew the availability of "quality" items shrunk. This will be easily recognisable to all collectors. This is why we also have other collectables of other members of the Dutch Royal family in our collection.

In 10 years we have managed to gather a collection of world class with many unique and stunning pieces dating from 1813 when the Netherlands became a constitutional monarchy, 1884 when H.R.H. The Princess Wilhelmina became heiress presumptive, 1898 when she was Inaugurated as H.M. Queen of The Netherlands just 1 week following her 18th birthday and all of the milestones in her life to 1962 when she finally closed her eyes for the last time.

Who are we? DenRon Collections, the name is a bit of a giveaway, we are Dennis & Ron also known as the boys or lads (and that for two 50 plussers). We've been together for 30 years and live in Amsterdam with our fab cat Lilla Bips (translations only via e-mail). We buy and sell at the 4 House of Orange Collectors fairs each year and the two humongous year collector’s fairs in Utrecht in the spring (april) and winter (november).

You will probably have noticed that collections is plural, our other main collection is The Beatles, specialising in 1960's memorabilia. We also have the largest collection of memorabilia from the Palace of Peace (Vredespaleis) in The Hague, 1913-to date and a few delightful souvenirs from the 1883 World Exhibition in Amsterdam.
